Today's Signal
A third top-tier AI lab just arrived, and it says it will undercut the other two on price
Meta released its Muse Wonder models, and the largest one now ranks second on Artificial Analysis' intelligence index, behind only Anthropic's Opus 5.5. It beats Opus 5.5 and OpenAI's top model at legal work, long coding tasks, and memory. Meta's Alexandr Wang says API prices will sit "meaningfully below" OpenAI and Anthropic's best models.
What this means for you
A third strong supplier means the best AI is getting cheaper and easier to swap, so don't marry one model or one vendor. What you should own is the system around the model, the part that knows your business, your data, and your workflows.

AI agents are starting to do the shopping, so your offer has to make sense to a machine
The New York Times reports that as AI agents begin making purchases on their own, brands are rewriting product descriptions, pricing presentation, and digital listings so AI systems can read and compare them easily.
For you: If a software agent can't quickly tell what you sell, what it costs, and why you're the right pick, it may skip you before a human ever sees your name.

AI made the work faster. Did it make the results better?
MarTech argues that AI has sped up how work gets done, but many companies haven't seen better outcomes. Speed gains are not keeping pace with real business impact.
For you: Before you buy another AI tool, decide which number it should move, such as revenue, response time, or margin. If it only saves hours and the result stays the same, it's a nice-to-have.

04The Market
Microsoft is building its own chip to challenge Nvidia, which is good news for your AI bill
Microsoft's new Maia 300 chip is aimed squarely at Nvidia's dominance in AI hardware. The big cloud companies want to stop depending on a single chip supplier.
For you: More competition in the hardware underneath AI tends to push the cost of running it down over time, so avoid long, rigid contracts that lock in today's prices.

05Tools
Meta's best model is locked behind a $50 to $200 monthly coding plan. Test it on your own work first.
Muse Wonder Full is limited to Meta's Muse Code plans at $50 or $200 a month. The standard model is live on Meta's API and rolling out to paid Muse app subscribers. Meta's own tests show it ahead on legal work and long coding tasks.
For you: Leaderboards are not your business. Run a real task, like a contract review or a report your team produces every week, through each model before you switch anything.

06Signal Check
The leaderboard changed again. Your business problems did not.
Three labs are now within a few points of each other, and next quarter the order will shuffle again. The model is the engine, but an engine alone doesn't get you anywhere. The operating system around it, the part that knows your customers, your pricing, and how your work actually gets done, is the car, and that is what you should be building.
